Real Madrid fans have praised Liverpool’s James Milner after his comments about a challenge from Casemiro last night.
Casemiro clattered Milner in the first-half, with Andy Robertson squaring up to the Brazilian as a result of the challenge.
The Madrid man was booked for the tackle, although some Liverpool players and staff appeared to feel that it merited more than just a yellow.
Milner was asked about the incident after the game, but quickly swatted aside the question: “I just kicked the ball down the line and got nailed, but it’s all part of it,” he said to BT Sport, when asked if Casemiro should have been sent off.
And Madrid supporters are impressed that the Liverpool midfielder refused to make an excuse for his side’s failure to win.
Milner actually played very impressively, after being handed a surprise start in the contest.
The Liverpool man crunched into a tackle on Karim Benzema early on and tried to set the tone for the Reds.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s side were just unable to make a breakthrough against a resilient Madrid backline, and ultimately exited the competition.
