The Manchester United boss could have some difficult conversations in the days ahead.
According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will finalise his squad plans for next season by Monday.
United still have one Premier League match to go this season – away to Hull City on Sunday – but they will then head off for the summer break before beginning their preparations for another campaign in earnest.
Speaking prior to that match, the United manager said, “We have a farewell drink after the match.
“I have the Monday to talk, and I already have this week to talk. You have to wait and see how these talks develop over who is staying or going away.”
United have a number of players who could be moving on permanently having barely featured this season, including the likes of Rafael, Radamel Falcao and Anders Lindegaard.
Those players currently on loan at other clubs, the likes of Nani, Angelo Henriquez and Javier Hernandez, may also have difficult conversations with the United boss if they have not already done so.
Whatever happens, it seems United’s players will know if their future lies away from the club by early next week.
