Louis Moult would be unfazed playing for Celtic, says Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson has suggested that Louis Moult would be good enough for Celtic.

Ahead of this weekend’s Scottish League Cup final, Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson has suggested to The Scottish Sun that he believes that Louis Moult would be capable of scoring goals for Celtic.

Moult has been one of the most impressive goalscorers in the Scottish Premiership since his arrival at Fir Park in 2015, scoring 38 top flight goals since arriving from Wrexham.

The Scottish Sun reports that Moult is out of contract at the end of the season and will more than likely be leaving Well, and Robinson has suggested that the 25-year-old would probably be good enough to make an impact for Brendan Rodgers’ side if they decided to enter the running for his signature and won the race.

“Louis can score goals in any team but Brendan would have to answer if he could get into the Celtic team or not. He’s definitely in the Motherwell team,” he told The Scottish Sun.

“But I don’t think playing for Celtic would faze Louis.”

It was, of course, Moult’s goals that booked Motherwell’s place in the final as they beat Rangers 2-0 at Hampden Park last month, with the second strike a stunning lob over the Gers goalkeeper to leave Pedro Caixinha on the brink at Ibrox.

And he goes into the final in some excellent form, having followed up scoring in the defeat to Ross County before the international break by doing Celtic a favour by scoring twice to help Well beat Aberdeen 2-0 at the weekend to allow the Hoops to extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

And Robinson will be hoping that Moult proves himself to the Bhoys once again this weekend by inspiring the side to end Celtic’s incredible unbeaten domestic run.
