Arsenal’s season got back underway with a whimper on Wednesday night – and a Tottenham Hotspur legend has added insult to injury.

Mikel Arteta’s side slumped to a demoralising 3-0 defeat away to Manchester City in the first game of Project Restart.

It’s been three months since Arsenal last had a game, but some things never change for the North Londoners and a horrific defensive display, led by David Luiz, appeared to undermine them.

The Gunners – who are one point and one place behind Tottenham in eighth – and City had no fans in attendance at the Etihad Stadium due to the global health crisis.

But Spurs legend Micky Hazard has quipped that last night was the loudest he had ever heard the support of his former club’s North London rivals.

Tottenham kick their season off again tomorrow with a visit of Manchester United – and it’s a must-win game.

Jose Mourinho’s side are seven points behind fourth-placed Chelsea in the race for Champions League qualification.

And at this stage, they can ill afford any more dropped points in what was a disastrous season for Spurs long before the campaign was temporarily suspended.
