‘Lots of teams beat Spurs’: Roy Keane sends warning to Everton after Tottenham jibe

Roy Keane has warned Everton to not get ‘too giddy’ about their start to the season, as posted by Football Daily.

The outspoken TV pundit aimed a jibe at Jose Mourinho’s side by saying ‘lots of teams beat Spurs’, as he was making reference to Everton’s opening day win in North London.

It has been a 100% start to the campaign for the Toffees, who are flying high in the Premier League during these early stages and producing the goods in the League Cup also.

Despite such positivity for those at Goodison Park, Keane seemingly wants to bring them back down to earth, as he couldn’t help but jab at Tottenham whilst he was at it.

“We talk about Everton, they beat Spurs, lots of teams beat Spurs,” Keane told Sky Sports. “They beat West Brom, who were down to 10 men. They were fortunate with the handball.

“So, let’s not too giddy about Everton here.”

Carragher responded to Keane’s claims by saying: “Have you got giddy about anything?”

Keane then replied with a smile: “Liverpool, yes, Liverpool, I think they are outstanding.”

Everton supporters will understand that they need to keep their feet on the ground despite a strong start to the new campaign.

But the performances and mind-set that has been shown by Carl Ancelotti’s men so far has been an encouraging one.

It’s now all about how the Toffees will react to a defeat because if they get back up and produce the goods again then it will bode well for the rest of the campaign.
