German legend Lothar Matthaus has admitted that he is a huge fan of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.
Kane is on course for another sensational season for Spurs. In 20 games in the Premier League and Champions League this season, he has already scored a staggering 18 goals – and that is despite the infamous August curse which saw him, once again, go through the first month of the season without scoring.
The Tottenham academy graduate inspired Mauricio Pochettino’s men to book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League in emphatic fashion, as they topped a group also involving Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, and ultimately claimed more points than any other team in any group this year.
And Matthaus admitted that he was full of admiration for the 24-year-old, and suggested that he would love to manage the striker.
“The only player in his position I’d prefer in all of Europe is Robert Lewandowski — and Kane is a lot younger and getting better.
“He works so hard, makes so many runs, moves into the right positions and creates things for his team. The other thing, which nobody can deny, is that he knows how to score.
“That is the greatest thing any striker can have and he can find the net from any distance, with either foot and his head.”
Kane certainly looks destined to go down as one of the best strikers in Premier League history, and there is no question that he cannot be written off from putting pressure on Alan Shearer’s stunning record since 1992.
And Kane will be hoping to add to his tally when Spurs host Brighton at Wembley on Wednesday when Pochettino’s men will have the chance to potentially move up to fourth in the table should they win.
