Huddersfield Town coach Carlos Corberan isn’t surprised to see Karlan Grant attracting interest from clubs such as West Bromwich Albion, highlighting the forward’s impressive strike rate while talking to Yorkshire Live.

When taking a glance at the 23-year-old’s goals-per-game ratio, you’d be forgiven for forgetting he has spent much of the past few seasons leading the line for a side struggling at the wrong end of the table.

Grant has found the net 23 times in 56 games for a Huddersfield side that finished rock-bottom in the Premier League and then 18th in the Championship.

So if West Brom do manage to get a £17 million deal over the line, Baggies fans should be confident in Grant’s ability to contribute to a side that’s likely to spend this campaign treading water (Daily Mail).

The former Charlton Athletic talisman has been left out of Huddersfield’s Championship plans this season, with his future uncertain.

However, Corberan isn’t exactly surprised to see his star man dominate the gossip columns.

“Of course the contribution of Grant last year was key because he scored a lot of goals that helped the team to take points and continue in the Championship,” says the former Leeds coach.

“I know how important Grant was and the other clubs know that too – and that’s why they are interested in a player like him.

“He’s in the club and, if he continues training and comes back to training with the group and starts to be part of the group, it would be great to have his support.”

Huddersfield have lost all three of their games under Corberan so far, failing to score a single goal.

Whether Grant stays or goes could be the difference between survival and relegation this season.
