Southampton fans aren’t a happy bunch on Twitter after Ralph Hasenhüttl opted to drop Liverpool loanee Takumi Minamino to the bench during their defeat at Elland Road on Tuesday night.
Even though Minamino scored a brilliant goal for the Saints over the weekend, which helped them record a point against Chelsea, the Liverpool man had to settle for the bench yesterday.
After going into the break, goalless, Hasenhüttl would have felt that the correct decision was made to drop Minamino and Danny Ings, but in the end, it’s a move that proved to be costly.
Some Saints supporters weren’t happy with that call before the game, during and after, as the South Coast club fell to yet another defeat.
Whilst Southampton are melting like butter in the league, life has started well for Liverpool’s versatile attacker at his temporary home, with two goals already to his name.

A certain Everton awaits Southampton next and Minamino will be hoping to start that encounter because a lot of Liverpool eyes will be on that match.
Minamino was brought to St Mary’s to provide that extra quality and know-how to this Southampton team and they need it more than ever now.
Here is a selection of Saints fans reacting to the decision to bench Minamino against Leeds:
