Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers midfielder Ovie Ejaria could be set to leave Scotland and return to Liverpool.

Kieran Dowell of Everton runs with the ball during the Carabao Cup Second Round match between Everton and Rotherham United at Goodison Park on August 29, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

If Glasgow Rangers can bring in Kieran Dowell to replace Ovie Ejaria, then losing the Liverpool loanee will not be any major concern.

Steven Gerrard has suggested that he needs to have a chat with Ejaria over his Rangers future, as the midfielder has become a little unsettled.

The loss of Ejaria at this stage would be a blow to Rangers, but Gerrard has his eyes on other attacking midfield targets.

The Scottish Sun have suggested that Rangers are eyeing up a January deal for Kieran Dowell from Everton.

And if Gerrard does bring in Dowell on a temporary move then he looks like an upgrade on Ejaria anyway.

Ovie Ejaria of Rangers is seen during the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Play Off match between Rangers and FC Ufa at Ibrox Stadium on August 23, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Dowell has scored prolifically at Championship level, and is at a more advanced stage of his career than Ejaria.

While Ejaria is just starting to get a taste of senior football, Dowell has proven that he can play competitively.

And if Rangers do lose Ejaria to bring in Dowell then it would be a very good trade for Gerrard’s side.
