New Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has told the club’s official website he is intending to take the number one spot from Simon Mignolet.
The goalkeeper arrived at Liverpool this month, as they secured him from German side Mainz. He is the club’s third permanent signing under Jurgen Klopp, with Joel Matip and Marko Grujic also having been secured by the German.

The signing has been warmly welcomed by Liverpool fans, who believe he could prove to be a smart capture.
Many are expecting him to replace current number one Simon Mignolet next season, and the youngster has confirmed he is planning to do just that.
“My goalkeeping style is very modern,” he told liverpoolfc.com.
“(It’s) offensive and also with a bit of risk, something that I’m willing to take. I wanted the no.1 shirt because I was wearing it at Mainz – and I want to be the no.1 here at Liverpool.”
Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet
It will certainly be interesting to see which goalkeeper Jurgen Klopp opts for next season after signing Karius.
Mignolet has often come in for criticism since arriving at Anfield, but like many of the Liverpool squad has vastly improved under Klopp’s leadership.
He is still not favoured among the Anfield faithful though, who firmly believe he is a major weak point in the side and should be dropped if they are to compete in the near future.
