The Liverpool goalkeeper was in poor form in the loss to Bournemouth.

Speaking on Match of the Day 2, Jermaine Jenas has claimed he is not sure Loris Karius is the goalkeeper that Liverpool need to win the title.

The Reds signed the German stopper in the summer transfer window as a replacement for Simon Mignolet.

He missed the beginning of the season through injury but has since established himself as the Reds’ number one over the last few months.

However, he has failed to impress, with several less than stellar displays under his belt failing to convince the Anfield faithful.

Sunday afternoon saw him putting in a shocking performance against Bournemouth; with a late fumble allowing Nathan Ake to score a shock winner for the Cherries.

It saw Karius coming in for criticism from fans and pundits alike and Jenas was one of them.

“He should have saved it [Steve Cook’s shot], it’s as simple as that,” Jenas told Match of the Day 2.

“We’re doing him a favour by digging out the back four as well but he has to catch it. He’s a goalkeeper I heard was very good in the German league and he could go on to be very good – almost like David De Gea did.

“But for Liverpool to win the Premier League here and now, I’m not sure he’s the guy.”

There is no denying that Karius has been disappointing so far for Liverpool and has left manager Jurgen Klopp with something of a dilemma.

The German has stood by his goalkeepers in the past but if Karius continues to struggle as he has then he may be forced to make a change.
