The Liverpool-owned goalkeeper is still contracted to the club.

Loris Karius of Liverpool shows dejection after the UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool at NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium on May 26, 2018 in Kiev, Ukraine.

Loris Karius has been speaking about his Liverpool future.

The error-prone German goalkeeper remains on the Reds’ books but is plying his trade in Turkey with Besiktas at the moment.

Karius, who joined Liverpool in 2016, is out of contract at Anfield in 2021 but Besiktas have an option to sign him next summer.

But whether they take up the option is another thing entirely.

The 26-year-old added to his catalogue of errors on Thursday with a dreadful mistake in the 4-2 Europa League defeat by Slovan Bratislava.

Asked about potentially returning to Liverpool, he said via talkSPORT: “I’m not thinking about it at the moment.

“There’s still a long way to go before my loan spell ends. I am focusing on matches, my performances. We will talk about it at the end of the season.”

It’s fair to say that Karius isn’t a popular player among Liverpool supporters after two horrendous mistakes in the Champions League final defeat by Real Madrid in 2018.

He hasn’t played a competitive game under Jurgen Klopp – who wound up signing Alisson – since then and it’s very likely that he never will again, even if Besiktas send him back.
