Tottenham Hotspur scrapped a deal for Gennaro Gattuso last week – and it seems he wasn’t too impressed when speaking to Lorenzo Insigne.
Spurs are still hunting for a new manager despite sacking Jose Mourinho in April, with Gattuso the latest name to miss out on the job.
When Tottenham scrapped a deal for Paulo Fonseca last week, Fabio Paratici targeted Gattuso, only for the move to be cancelled within 24 hours.
Insigne comments on Gattuso situation
Gattuso had only just resigned after only 23 days at Fiorentina, but was in line for a big move to Tottenham that nobody really expected.
Now, Napoli attacker Lorenzo Insigne has been quoted by Football Italia as saying he has spoken to Gattuso about the situation.
Insigne suggests Gattuso called the fiasco “a mess”, having seemingly been on the verge of signing a deal with Tottenham before the offer was pulled away on the back of fan protests.
“We’ve texted each other, he told me there was a bit of mess,” said Insigne.

Tottenham’s Insigne hopes dented
Insigne’s comments come at an ironic time, because he is actually being linked with a move to Tottenham himself.
Il Mattino reported earlier today that Tottenham are rivalling Chelsea and Arsenal for the signature of Insigne, who is currently shining for Italy at Euro 2020.
If Gattuso is calling his Tottenham situation “a mess”, it doesn’t exactly bode well for Tottenham’s hopes of signing Insigne, with his former Napoli boss hardly complimentary of the north London side.
