Lord Sugar has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to speculation that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Jesse Lingard from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
According to The Daily Star, Tottenham are looking to secure the services of Lingard – who can play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger – from Premier League rivals United.
It has been reported that Spurs want to sign the England international in a £30 million deal, with head coach Jose Mourinho having worked with him when he was the manager of the Red Devils.
Former Tottenham chairman Lord Sugar has dismissed the speculation on Twitter.
Unlikely Tottenham Hotspur transfer
Lingard has not been at his best for a while now, and the England international has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
It is hard to see Tottenham spend £30 million to sign a 27-year-old who is not in his prime and who has not really been a big success, especially amid the current economic climate.
True, Mourinho knows Lingard, but Tottenham have just signed winger Gareth Bale on loan from Real Madrid and look good in attack.
