West Ham suffered a 6-0 shocker at the hands of Manchester City, and a former Tottenham Hotspur chairman saw the funny side.
If anybody should share sympathy with West Ham after losing 6-0 at The Etihad, it should be a Tottenham fan.
Such is the tribal nature of football nowadays that instead of sympathising, former Spurs chairman Lord Sugar saw the result as a perfect time to point fun at their London rivals.
The result piles more pressure on manager Sam Allardyce, who oversaw the Hammers losing 5-0 to Nottingham Forest days earlier.
West Ham’s co-owners even gave him the dreaded vote of confidence yesterday, in the form of an open letter urging fans to get behind the manager.
A 6-0 defeat was the last thing they needed, with anti-Allardyce chants heard from the away end late on.
It led to Spurs chairman Lord Sugar posting the following on Twitter, poking fun at the situation…
