Tottenham Hotspur slipped to a second straight defeat with a 2-0 loss away at London rivals Chelsea on Wednesday evening.

Spurs had won four games in a row before losing at Burnley on Saturday afternoon, and were desperate for a response on Wednesday.

However, Mauricio Pochettino saw his side fall flat again, with Pedro opening the scoring for Chelsea before a bizarre Kieran Trippier own goal.

Spurs are certainly out of the title race now, if they were ever really in it, and there are now even fears that they could drop out of the top four.

Fifth-placed Manchester United are now just five points behind Spurs after a blistering run of form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, whilst Arsenal are just four points behind in fourth place.

Spurs take on Arsenal this weekend, and if they aren’t careful, they could find that both clubs manage to bump them out of the top four.

Pochettino needs to recover quickly from two straight defeats, starting with a win in the North London derby this weekend – but former Spurs owner Sugar is really concerned.

Sugar took to Twitter last night to predict that Arsenal and United will end up finishing in the top four at Tottenham’s expense, giving fans a grim verdict on last night’s display and the rest of the season.
