Tottenham Hotspur were dumped out of the FA Cup yesterday.

Lord Sugar has suggested on Twitter that Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino was wrong to drop Hugo Lloris for Saturday’s FA Cup defeat by Manchester United.

Spurs were denied a spot in the final as United came from behind to win 2-1, courtesy of a first-half equaliser from Alexis Sanchez, before Ander Herrera drilled home a second-half winner.

Goalkeeper Michel Vorm could and probably should have done better for Herrera’s goal.

The Tottenham manager elected to play Vorm after Lloris endured an erratic few weeks between the sticks.

But former Spurs’ chief Sugar believes it was the wrong thing to do.

It was a massive call by Pochettino and one that ultimately backfired.

Lloris is arguably Tottenham’s finest goalkeeper in decades and one or two iffy moments in recent weeks should not mean that his consistency before that deserves to be overlooked.
