Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli might have sparked another diving storm.

Former Tottenham Hotspur chairman Lord Sugar has appeared to criticise Dele Alli on Twitter.

The 21-year-old was caught up in yet another diving storm in Spurs’ dramatic 1-0 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Alli has been booked for diving on three occasions since August 2015 – more than any other players in that period – and the debate is bound to resurface now.

The former MK Dons starlet angered Patrick van Aanholt by trying to win a penalty off him at Selhurst Park, before throwing himself over goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.

He was unsuccessful in earning a penalty on both occasions, and Lord Sugar has suggested that his reputation is now going before him for such theatrics.

Gary Lineker was also pretty clear in what he thought.

There will come a time when Alli has a very strong case for a penalty denied on the basis that he has tried to hoodwink referees in the past.

He remains a fine talent, but it doesn’t bode well that he is getting people talking for the wrong reasons more and more often.
