Tony Cascarino has written in The Times that Alexander Isak is ready to replace his Newcastle United teammate Callum Wilson as the main number 9 in the first team.
The former Chelsea player made the comments about Isak after he starred for Newcastle in their win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at home in the Premier League this past weekend.
Newcastle got the better of Wolves 2-1 at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Sunday.
Isak scored the opening goal.
TalkSPORT pundit Cascarino was impressed by Isak, and he believes that the striker is now ready to replace England international striker Wilson as the regular man upfront in Eddie Howe’s starting lineup.
Praise for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak
Cascarino wrote: “I’ve always been a fan of Callum Wilson but Alexander Isak looks ready to replace him as Newcastle’s leading man.
“The Swedish striker has settled well in the Premier League and is a little more dynamic than Wilson — helped of course by being eight years younger than him.
“What I like about Isak is that, as well as having good control and hold-up play, he runs in behind and stretches defences. That helps Newcastle to extend teams and force the opposition defence back towards their goal.

“That then helps Newcastle move their creative midfielders and Kieran Trippier higher up the pitch where they can be a threat. With the financial backing they have I’m sure Newcastle will spend big in the summer but they might already have their next No 9.”
Big player
In our view, Alexander Isak is one of the best young strikers around and has what it takes to make it big at Newcastle United.
The striker has had injury problems this season, and that is the main reason why we have not seen the best of him.
However, the Sweden international striker is starting to come into his own now and is showing what he is capable of.
