Some Tottenham fans on social media have found a positive in the performance of Erik Lamela after their drab 1-0 loss to Chelsea on Thursday evening.

The game against Chelsea may go down as one of Tottenham’s most uninspiring performances of the season as they offered very little in terms of attack and looked more than happy to settle for a narrow loss, despite playing at home.

The usual cast of attacking stars failed to produce anything at all going forward, but one man who came off the bench provided a spark that had supporters talking.

Indeed, Erik Lamela may not have played most of the game, but fans were very happy with the energy, intensity and intent he brought when he came onto the pitch.

Lamela certainly added an extra element to Tottenham’s attack, he actually threatened to run past players, and he had a long-range strike that forced a decent save out of Edouard Mendy.

Unfortunately, Lamela’s efforts were ultimately in vain as he couldn’t salvage a result for Tottenham, but it was still an impressive cameo in a game that offered very little excitement for Tottenham fans.

Here’s what Spurs fans have been saying about Lamela on social media…
