Martin Keown has claimed that Harry Kane looks to ‘in the mood’ to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, as he told McDonald’s Fun Football Programme.

Despite suggestions that he wants that move to Manchester City and Pep Guardiola wants him at the Etihad, Keown thinks that Kane will stay at Tottenham for ‘one more season’.

Kane is back in pre-season training for Tottenham and there are suggestions that he could be in line to face Man City on Sunday.

It’s the perfect drama the broadcasters are looking for ahead of the weekend, as Keown shared his thoughts on Kane’s future.

“Well, I suppose it was going to be inevitable for a player of that quality,” said Keown.

“He has been at Spurs now all of his career without winning any trophies you are all of a sudden asking ‘what’s going to happen for Harry?’ He wants to have some silverware on the mantelpiece before he finishes his career.

“So, we have to see how that works with Nuno coming in. It looks like Harry is in the mood to leave Spurs, but he is contracted to stay there and he is a huge player.

“I can see that one panning out where he stays for one more season. But let’s wait and see.”

It’s not the ideal scenario for Nuno Espirito Santo, who clearly wasn’t Tottenham’s first-choice to replace Jose Mourinho, and is on more than just his back foot before his first official game.

Aside from the drama around Kane, pre-season has gone well for Nuno and he seems to be building a solid foundation for the new Premier League season.

But if they get off to a poor start then the mood will quickly change in North London.

And if Kane is still a Spurs player beyond this summer’s transfer window, it will be interesting to see what the reaction is towards him from his own fans.
