Newcastle United fans on Twitter are absolutely mesmerised by Joelinton’s improvement since Eddie Howe took the reins.

The St James’s Park club have finally won a Premier League game after beating Burnley 1-0 on Tyneside this afternoon.

And a realistic candidate for man-of-the-match is Joelinton, the Brazilian attacker who cost Newcastle a staggering £40 million.

Signed as a striker, Joelinton is nowhere near prolific enough to score the goals that keep United in the Premier League, having only netted seven in 82 top-flight games.

But under the new manager, Howe, the towering forward has been playing in a slightly deeper midfield role, behind Callum Wilson.

Wilson was the match-winner for Newcastle today, but the supporters were staggered by Joelinton’s improvement yet again.

Here’s how their fans reacted to his performance:

Transformation

Unbelievable transformation this by Joelinton, but let’s not get carried away too much.

Whenever a new manager joins a club, some players always originally improve in a massive way.

Honeymoon periods are completely inevitable but honestly, Joelinton may genuinely be a different proposition under the 43-year-old former Bournemouth coach.

In midfield, Joelinton has significantly less pressure on him to be a £40 million marksman and maybe, just maybe, it could lead to him being an unlikely hero for Newcastle United.

Progress

Because of that victory, the Magpies remain seriously threatened by relegation but they’re no longer bottom of the standings, making this a double success.
