Jaroslaw Jach has been speaking to Weszlo about his future at Crystal Palace, and it sounds like he won’t be staying at Selhurst Park.

What’s the story?

Well, the 28-year-old admitted he’s looking for a new club, with his contract at Crystal Palace set to expire in June.

Speaking to Weszlo, Jach said: “I am focused on completing the contract at Crystal Palace and looking for a new move in six months.”

In truth, the signing of the Poland international was a baffling one.

Jach arrived at Crystal Palace in January 2018, signing from Zaglebie Lubin for a sum of £2m under Roy Hodgson.

However, he never featured for the first-team until September 2020, when he made his debut against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup.

That was his one and only appearance for the first-team.

Had there been a managerial change after Jach’s arrival, his absence from the team would’ve made more sense.

However, it was Hodgson who signed him, and Hodgson who never played him, making the situation all the more bizarre.

Crystal Palace must learn from Jaroslaw Jach disaster

In our view, Crystal Palace need to learn from this.

The Eagles have wasted £10,000-a-week on Jach since he arrived in January 2018, while they also lost £2m in the transfer fee.

Of course, that isn’t a lot of money for a Premier League club, but it could’ve been spent better, that’s for sure.

To put that into context, Jordan Ayew only cost £2.5m, whereas Jack Butland was signed for £1m, so that £2m sum definitely could’ve been put to better use.

Whether Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman signed Jach without Hodgson’s approval remains to be seen, but if that is what happened, everyone at Crystal Palace needs to work closer in terms of recruitment.

If another situation like this happens, questions will rightly be asked.
