Ossie Ardiles has reacted to Tottenham Hotspur’s latest win on Twitter – and singled out one player for praise.
Spurs marched into the last 32 of the Europa League as Group J winners on Thursday by beating Royal Antwerp 2-0 in North London.
Second-half goals from Carlos Vinicius and Giovani Lo Celso were enough for Tottenham after a tricky first 45 minutes.
Lo Celso’s goal – his fifth of the season in all competitions – was just reward for a fantastic individual display.
The Argentina international was far and away the Lilywhites’ most lively player across both halves and embarked on a couple of adventurous runs which almost yielded goals.
He was the hosts’ stand-out player and here’s what his compatriot Ardiles said about him on Twitter afterwards:
The 24-year-old had a mixed first season at Tottenham, who made his loan from Real Betis permanent in a £27 million deal early in 2020 nonetheless.
But since Jose Mourinho took over from Mauricio Pochettino in November of last year, the former Paris Saint-Germain playmaker has looked in fine form.
And Ardiles is right – this is a player who’s constantly getting better and, from Mourinho’s perspective, long may it last.
