Jack Grealish has posted a hilarious message on his Instagram story about Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson ahead of England’s Euro 2020 opener against Croatia on Sunday.
The Liverpool man is pictured helping the Villa playmaker with his tie, as both players are suited and booted and ready for the big event today.
Grealish wrote on his Instagram story: “Looking at you like my mom doing my tie for the first day of school”.
Both players will have to play a crucial part for the Three Lions if they are to lift silverware this summer, but Henderson might not be starting from the off.
Given that the Liverpool man only recently played his first set of 45 minutes in a number of months, it’s going to be difficult for Gareth Southgate to hand him a starting birth against Croatia.
But Grealish has a chance to be named in that starting XI, after he impressed during England’s most recently friendlies and a stellar Premier League campaign for his boyhood club.
A lot will also depend on what formation Southgate selects because a five at the back decreases Grealish’s chances of starting.
If it’s a 4-3-3 then it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Grealish in the middle, but whatever Southgate decides, the knives will be out for him if it does go wrong.
But if the Three Lions supporters are singing ‘football’s coming home’ after the full-time whistle then something has gone right and Southgate’s calls will have been justified.
