Speaking on his podcast, Gilberto Silva has lavished praise upon Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, hailing him for the stability and balance that he brings into the Gunners’ midfield.
The Ghanaian is really hitting his stride after joining the Gunners in the summer, and Silva spoke incredibly highly of him on his podcast.
The Brazilian was particularly impressed with how Partey played against Tottenham over the weekend.
“I think Odegaard did well, but Partey in this game against Spurs, he was very important in his job. He’s the kind of player that helps the others perform. Because he’s in the position where we spoke a lot that Arsenal need a player like him, for a long time without Partey they were missing this player in this position, and they’ve found him,” Silva said.
“Look at his performance and the way he played, giving balance at the back and for the guys up front. He gives a good stability in the middle of the park, which is so important for Arsenal.
“He’s the kind of player in my opinion that improves the other performers. Because, he was so stable, but also helping the others with his experience, how he positions himself and how he gets the balance in the position and he helps others. Looking at him, I say wow. I think Arsenal are now very well-served in this position.”

Interestingly, this is very similar to how pundits used to speak about Silva in his playing days.
The Brazilian says that Partey makes everyone else around him better, and that’s exactly what you need from a midfielder of this ilk.
Unfortunately, Arsenal’s season hasn’t quite gone the way they’d hoped it had, but with Partey in the team, they could build towards something special next season.
