Paul Merson told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (20/02/21 at 1:40 pm) that it ‘looked like’ Jack Grealish was ‘carrying something’ during Aston Villa’s goalless draw at Brighton last week.
The TV pundit claimed that he is worried whether Villa’s creator will be fit to play his side’s showdown with Leicester City later on today.
After Matty Cash was sidelined with a hamstring injury, the last thing Villa need is their main man to join him on the sidelines.
Whether that’s the case or not, it will become apparent in a few hours time.
Nonetheless, Merson suggested that Grealish is ‘carrying’ an injury of some sort, as he shared his thoughts on the rising England star’s recent performance.
“100% (he makes everyone else better),” said Merson. “You only have to look at last week’s game against Brighton.
“He just wasn’t the same player and they got absolutely dominated. I worry if he will be fit (against Leicester) because it looked like he was carrying something.
“That’s probably the worst I have seen Jack because he always has an influence on the game, as Maddison said there.”

If Grealish is out for the Leicester visit then either Anwar El Ghazi or Trezeguet will come into the fold.
Given that El Ghazi has played on that left-hand side more often, he would be the first option, but Villa fans will, of course, prefer their star man to be out on that pitch instead.
If he isn’t then it’s the ample chance for this Villa side to show the depth in quality they have and how they can cope without their expert ball-carrier.
