Jamie Carragher does not believe Newcastle legend Alan Shearer is up to the task of managing England.

Jamie Carragher has told The Mail that he does not believe fellow television pundit Alan Shearer is the right man to manage England.
Shearer has thrown his hat into the ring to replace Roy Hodgson, quoted by SkySports saying he would like to hold talks over the vacancy.
The 45-year-old is an England legend as a player, finishing Euro ’96 as top scorer, also netting at World Cup ’98 and scoring a winner against Germany at Euro 2000.
Carragher is a pundit for SkySports while Shearer is part of BBC Sport’s programming, and the former Liverpool defender does not want to see England appoint the wrong man.
He said: “If the FA look to cast their net further, there can’t be complaints, even from Alan Shearer, who wasted no time throwing his hat into the ring after claiming Hodgson was ‘tactically inept’.
“Shearer’s patriotism is admirable but there is more to being a successful manager than just patriotism and emotion. Shearer, after all, will remember how, after acting on emotion when Newcastle called him in 2009, he failed to stop the club he has supported all his life being relegated.”

Shearer answered an SOS from Newcastle seven years ago, managing the team for just eight games.
Unlike Rafa Benitez who stayed on in similar circumstances this summer, Shearer did not continue at Newcastle, and has not held a management role since.
