Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, Nigel Reo-Coker has been talking about Everton’s recruitment issues and Luis Diaz.

It’s no secret that Everton have gotten a number of signings wrong in recent years, and it’s even more frustrating when their rivals across Stanley Park are seemingly getting every single signing spot on.

Reo-Coker has compared the Reds’ recent signing if Luis Diaz and how he’s immediately taken to life at Liverpool with Everton’s signings of Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek who were more luxury signings from the Toffees.

What’s been said?

Reo-Coker discussed how Diaz is shining a spotlight on Everton’s problems.

“Just to add to what you’re saying, it’s about professionalism compare Everton and look at Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp is a great manager, but you also see Liverpool’s structure with the types of players they go for who suit Liverpool, suit the system and can thrive in that environment. Look at Diaz who they’ve just brought in he fits like a glove and he looks like he’s been at Liverpool for three or four years already. That’s what you get from clubs who have a direction compared to Everton signing Dele Alli and Donny Van de Beek who were not needed at the club,” Reo-Coker said.

Stings

The fact that Diaz is the stick that Everton are being beaten with here has to sting.

The Colombian was actually a summer transfer target for the Toffees, and in another world, he would be playing in blue rather than red.

Sadly though, Everton couldn’t conclude a deal for Diaz in the summer and Liverpool swooped in January.

Diaz already looks like a star at Anfield while Everton’s January signings are struggling at Goodison Park.
