Roy Keane has told Sky Sports that he could see the relief in Liverpool’s squad after their win over Sheffield United.

Liverpool picking up a 2-0 victory over the bottom placed team in the league may have been seen as fairly routine previously.

However, with more absences and poor form striking, Liverpool’s victory was far from a foregone conclusion.

Even as the game played out, the Reds had to negotiate their way past a couple of nervy moments on their way to victory.

But in the end they were well worth the three points, thanks to a tidy finish from Curtis Jones and a deflected strike from Roberto Firmino.

And Keane could see the relief from Liverpool’s players that they were back to winning ways at full-time.

“You look at the reaction of the players after the game. A lot of relief a lot of smiles,” he said. “The manager was on the pitch, they were all hugging each other, the subs.

“It’s the best feeling in the world when you win a game.

“They’ve won a lot of trophies over the last few years, but that will mean a lot to them.

“I guarantee they’ll be a great atmosphere in that dressing room and it makes the manager’s job a lot easier in terms of trying to pick them up.”

Liverpool’s joy at their victory was understandable, given their recent form.

Klopp’s men went into the game on the back of a four game losing run in the league, which had seen them slide down the table.

But Liverpool are now within just two points of the top four, with their next game coming against Chelsea on Thursday night.
