Micah Richards has honestly stated on BBC Radio 5 Live that Liverpool have got the ‘edge’ over Manchester City this season because they can ‘get over the line’ when performing poorly.
Added with that, the former Manchester City defender also added Leeds into the conversation and shared how well Marcelo Bielsa has drilled his players and dismissed the thought that they are a ‘myth’.
Liverpool are sitting second in the Premier League table – level on points with table-toppers Everton – whilst Leeds are sitting sixth.
Meanwhile, after five matches, Richards old side are sitting in the bottom half, as he honestly shared what Jurgen Klopp’s men are doing better than Man City and heaped praise on those in Yorkshire.
“The only thing I will say about Liverpool is that even when they don’t play well, they still manage to win and get over the line,” Richards told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Whereas with Man City, at the moment, you have seen Spurs with West Ham, they seem to be dropping points. Where I see the difference between Liverpool and Man City, at the moment, is they are just managing to get over that line. If it’s that flash of brilliance or it’s that little bit more fitness because they started pre-season a little bit earlier.

“And other teams. I mean look at Leeds, they have been fantastic. You don’t know what to expect with Leeds and I know a lot of people have been joking by calling them a myth and what not. They are actually a good side. They are a good side to watch.
“They know their tactics. They have kept a lot of players from the Championship and kept them in the Premier League, so they already know what they want to do. The difficulty with someone like Chelsea is that when you buy so many stars and it’s where do you fit them in? It’s not enough time to bed them in. I think, at this moment in time, that’s why Liverpool have got the edge.”

The English Premier League needs shaking up at the top and if the likes of Leeds, Everton and Aston Villa can continue to cause havoc then it’ll only benefit the game.
All three have made seriously good starts to the season and will be backing themselves to be that surprise package this term.
Leading up to the international break, and a few games after that stoppage, if any of those teams are still sitting in the top-six then it will be beyond the point of it being ‘early days’ but something to sit up and take notice of.
