Roy Keane has stated that Jurgen Klopp looks ‘refreshed’ in Liverpool colours ahead of the new Premier League season, as he told ITV Sport.

The Premier League legend added ‘good luck’ to the others in trying to stop Manchester City or Liverpool ahead of the new campaign, after the duo locked horns in the Community Shield on Saturday.

It was Klopp who had the biggest grin on his face after the full-time whistle because, not only did his side record a 3-1 win, but summer signing Darwin Nunez came off the bench to impress and score in stoppage-time.

The Reds did lose 3-0 to Strasbourg yesterday, but Klopp played a much-changed and young side, so it’s not too much of a worry.

Nonetheless, Keane shared his thoughts on Klopp – who signed a new contract last season – and how it’s going to be near-on impossible to stop the Premier League’s top two next season.

“The other teams might be watching thinking ‘are these two teams going to ease off?’,” said Keane. “Well, not with Klopp and Pep in charge.

“The hunger and desire from both teams. You look at Klopp, he has a big smile on his face. He looks refreshed. He has got his new contract, so good luck trying to stop these teams.”

PREMIER LEAGUE AND CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Under Klopp’s stewardship, the Merseyside giants have been to three Champions League finals, winning one in Madrid, whilst Manchester City have won four out of the last five Premier League titles.

It could be argued that the Reds crave that Premier League title again, more than anything else, because they would be able to win in front of their own supporters.

Whilst Guardiola is desperate to add that all-important European Cup to Man City’s cabinet because it’s one dark cloud over the club’s head.

Either way, talk of quadruples, going unbeaten and winning it all will be the keywords associated with both teams next season, but could anyone cause an upset?
