Jeff Stelling has warned Arsenal and Tottenham transfer target Alexis Mac Allister from leaving Brighton, as he used Yves Bissouma and Marc Cucurella as examples.
In the summer, Bissouma, with 12 months remaining on his contract at the Amex Stadium, was snapped up by Antonio Conte at Tottenham, whilst Cucurella, after only one season in the South Coast, headed to Chelsea.
Cucurella was the Supporters Player of the Season, but that form has hardly been seen at Stamford Bridge, whilst Bissouma is struggling to cement his place in Tottenham’s midfield.

Over the years, those in the Brighton boardroom have shown that they are willing to let their top talents leave, Ben White perhaps being the biggest success story so far after his transfer to Arsenal.
But another name is now being mentioned and that’s the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner with Argentina in Mac Allister, who the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham are looking at.
Mac Allister might be riding a wave and he did have a ‘standout’ World Cup, but Jeff Stelling doesn’t think he should leave, as he told Soccer Special on Sky Sports.
“Alexis Mac Allister, I was amazed to see that he was only involved in eight Argentina games before the World Cup, yet he was one of the standout performers,” said Stelling.
“The question now has to be. Can Brighton hold onto him? I mean their recruitment, he cost them £7 million.
“From Brighton’s perspective, they lost Bissouma and Cucurella, they can’t lose another? Maybe just maybe, he should look at how things have worked out for Bissouma and Cucurella before he makes his decision.”

TOTTENHAM AND ARSENAL SHOULDN’T PUSH FOR MAC ALLISTER
If either Tottenham or Arsenal were to sign Mac Allister, then he would instantly sit on their bench rather than earn regular starts.
But with Mikel Arteta’s side sitting at the top of the Premier League table and heading towards a possible title charge, it would be difficult for any player outside of that to turn them down.
However, as Brighton have also proven over the years, yes, they will sell, but only for the right price. If you add World Cup tax to Mac Allister’s name right now, then big dough would need to be put on the table to sign him and that’s something both Arsenal and Spurs should shy away from.
