Neil Lennon has warned Celtic that it will be a ‘long way back’ if they lose the Old Firm derby to Rangers next month, as he told Sky Sports.
Rangers are currently four points clear of their rivals in the Premiership table, as the duo are to set to meet on February 2nd at Celtic Park for their rescheduled fixture.
The Gers dropped some costly points on Tuesday night, with Aberdeen holding them to a 1-1 draw, as Ryan Kent was sent off during the game.
There are still a number of games to go in between their meeting, but a certain Scott Brown gave his old side a helping hand yesterday.
Nonetheless, Lennon provided his thoughts on the Old Firm and how Gio van Bronckhorst has done since he replaced Steven Gerrard.
“I always thought it was going to be close,” said Lennon. “Gio van Bronckhorst has come in and it has been a seamless transition for him.
“Celtic have got a couple of difficult games with Hearts and Dundee United. Then, the pivotal one, for me, will be February 2, when Rangers come to Celtic Park.
“If the gap is still six (now four points), then Celtic, psychologically, need to win that to close the gap.
“If Rangers go nine points clear, then it’s a long way back for Celtic. But both teams are in very good form.”

One man that will certainly miss the Old Firm clash is Alfredo Morelos after he was recalled by Columbia.
The South American nation are due to play World Cup qualifiers against Peru and Argentina during the coming weeks.
This won’t sit well in the Rangers camp because they were originally due to play this game on January 2.
But following restrictions on fans attending matches, an early winter break was called and now Rangers will be without their striker.
