Matuesz Klich is embarking on an ‘intense search’ for a new club after being told that he will no longer be a regular starter in the Premier League for Leeds United, Polish reporter Lukasz Wisniowski tells Meczyki.
Whatever happens between now and September, Mateusz Klich will always have a place in the hearts of all Leeds United supporters. And so he should.
Few players epitomised the Marcelo Bielsa era better than their long-serving Poland international; Almost an ever present during the Argentine’s first three years at Elland Road.
But at the age of 32, with just two years left on his contract and with Tyler Adams, Marc Roca and Brenden Aaronson arriving, is now the perfect time for Klich and Leeds to shake hands and go their separate ways? It certainly feels like it.
Is Mateusz Klich leaving Leeds United?
Head coach Jesse Marsch indicated over the weekend that Klich – who has barely kicked a ball in anger during pre-season – may be allowed to leave to enhance his World Cup prospects (Leeds Live).

And, according to Wisniowski, the former FC Twente man is wasting no time with less than a month of the window remaining.
“Marsch has clearly made it clear that Klich will not be in the first squad. He will only supplement the team,” says Wisniowski.
“And he (Klich) takes that personally. There is an intense search for options. Probably a loan; There is a lot of talk about the Dutch option, the Eredivisie. Klich is very aware of his position on the market.”
The 2020 Championship champion indicated in July that he would be keen on a return to his Polish homeland at some point. That could be one potential option. Especially considering that fellow veteran Kamil Grosicki is still a big part of the international set up despite plying his trade in Poland’s Ekstraklasa.
“With the coach publicly declaring that Klich will not be part of the XI, he says: ‘I am 32. I know that (my age) limits my choices on the transfer market a lot. I have to play, because my absolute priority is to go to the World Cup and potentially play in the starting XI’,” adds Wisniowski.
