Transfer business at the Emirates remains on hold with Arsenal still in the process of naming a successor to Arsene Wenger. While Mikel Arteta has remained the favourite for the job in recent weeks, Sky Sports report former Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery is in London today to hold talks with the club.
Chelsea rescued something from their 2017-18 season with their FA Cup victory over Manchester United on Saturday but there was disappointment for three members of their squad on Monday afternoon.
Alvaro Morata, Cesc Fabregas and Marcos Alonso were all notable omissions from Julen Lopetegui’s 23-man Spain squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia. Cesar Azpilicueta was the only Spaniard in blue to make the cut.

Mauricio Pochettino remains keen to add more firepower to his squad but has learned his lesson after signing Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente and will not target a specialist striker. Instead, he will attempt to bring in someone who can also play in a deeper role or out on the left, with Manchester United’s Anthony Martial fitting the bill in that respect.
The France international’s future continues to look rather bleak at Old Trafford as long as Jose Mourinho is present and the Evening Standard suggest Tottenham could use United’s interest in Toby Alderweireld to try and bring the former Monaco starlet down south.
West Ham United meanwhile now appear on the verge of naming Manuel Pellegrini their new manager. According to the Independent, the club are close to agreeing a deal that will see the former Manchester City manager paid £10million a year. One of his first pieces of business may be deciding whether the club bring Joao Mario back to the club from Inter Milan on a permanent basis, with reports in Italy suggesting the midfielder’s agent has begun the process of sounding out other possibilities.

Fulham’s focus remains solely on Saturday’s Championship play-off final against Aston Villa but a report from the Evening Standard reports manager Slavisa Jokanovic is now among the list of possible successors to Antonio Conte being considered by the club.
Steve McClaren meanwhile has been officially unveiled as new Queens Park Rangers manager this afternoon at a press conference but has been quick to temper expectations around the club.
With the club still partially hamstrung in the transfer market by a £58million Financial Fair Play fine, the former England manager is aware of the size of the job at hand, warning the club are still “a long, long away” from returning to the Premier League.
