Just when it looked like Mikel Arteta was closing in on a return to North London, Unai Emery is now primed to succeed Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager. Details of how the former Paris Saint-Germain boss won over the Gunners hierarchy have dominated the news agenda today, with the meticulously-minded Spaniard blowing the bosses away with his detailed analysis of every member of the squad, according to The Sun.

They add that Emery wants to build a team around Aaron Ramsey and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, which surely bodes well for the club’s hopes of tying the Wales international down to a new contract.

Things remain quiet on the transfer front over at Fulham ahead of Saturday’s Championship playoff final against Aston Villa. That fixture could decide the futures of a number of key players, however. Keeping hold of Newcastle United loanee Aleksander Mitrovic might be a tad easier for starters, as will getting Ryan Fredericks to sign a new deal, with the right-back eager to play in the Premier League next term. And then there is the small matter of £50m-rated Ryan Sessesgnon.
