It has been over three years since Olivier Giroud swapped Arsenal for Chelsea and it’s a move that has paid off.

Two of his current teammates – Callum Hudson-Odoi and Antonio Rudiger – labelled the World Cup winner as ‘top-class’ and agreed that he is an underrated figure, as they told Sky Sports.

During his days at Arsenal, Giroud was like a marmite-like figure where opinion was split on what he brought to the table.

But lifting the Europa League with Chelsea, and scoring against none other than Arsenal in the final, perhaps proved that he made the right decision to leave for £18 million in 2018 (Sky Sports).

Both Hudson-Odoi and Rudiger were raving about their underappreciated striker.

On Giroud being underrated: “Yes, defiantly,” said Hudson-Odoi. ” Like you said, he has been doing it for many years now.

“He’s been scoring a lot of goals every season. His commitment to the team and desire to win trophies. He is top-class.”

Rudiger added: “At the end of the day, you are talking about a World-Cup winner. And he shows it every season.”

On paper, four Premier League goals for Giroud this season might be questionable, but he has only made nine starts and scored in four of those matches.

Plus, he has a better record in the Champions League this season, with six goals from his five European games.
