Chelsea are reportedly open to signing FC Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele in the next 48 hours, with the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham also keen on the forward.

According to Sport, the Blues are ‘willing to sign’ the French international before Monday’s deadline as Dembele’s future remains uncertain. The winger is set on leaving Barcelona, with the Catalan side also keen to offload the attacker.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Barcelona paid an astronomical £130m for Dembele in 2017. Yet despite the fee and the clear talent, the former Borussia Dortmund star has just not lived up to expectations for the La Liga side.

And now, a move to the Premier League could be on the cards. According to Sky Sports, Dembele is on the radar for Mikel Arteta’s side and Tottenham, as well as Liverpool, with Newcastle United also linked to the attacker.

However, if reports in Catalonia are to be believed, it is Chelsea who are winning the race for Dembele. Thomas Tuchel is the manager who got the best out of the forward, and the pair reuniting could be a deadly prospect in the Premier League.

Whilst the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham need attacking depth, Chelsea, on paper, make the most sense as a new destination for Dembele, who is in desperate need to rediscover the player he once was before his move to Barcelona.

Dembele heading to Chelsea would be both a surprise and a satisfying conclusion to a transfer saga that has engulfed most of the January window. And whilst it would be a blow for the likes of Arsenal and Spurs, west London could be perfect for the attacker.

Indeed, Tuchel has worked with Dembele before and got the best out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner. And in the battle of London clubs for the forward, Chelsea have the best elevator pitch, as well as resources, to pull off a move.
