Ian Wright has said on Match of the Day 2 on BBC One (10:46pm, August 22, 2021) that Albert Sambi Lokonga played well for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea yesterday.

The Arsenal legend believes that Lokonga was very good against Chelsea in the Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium.

The BBC Sport pundit has said that winger Nicolas Pepe did well on occasions as well.

Arsenal lost the London derby 2-0 to the Blues.

Wright said on Match of the Day 2 on BBC One (10:46pm, August 22, 2021): “Apart from Lokonga, I thought he was very good today, Pepe done a bit in places, I thought they were bereft of anything that they were doing.”

How did Albert Sambi Lokonga play?

Lokonga is only 21 and joined Arsenal from Anderlecht in the summer transfer window.

The Belgian youngster has not exactly been world class for the Gunners, but he has shown some very promising signs and has demonstrated his quality already.

Lokonga demanded the ball and tried to push Arsenal forward against Chelsea.

The midfielder looked very enthusiastic and energetic and was arguably the best player for Arsenal against Chelsea.

The 21-year-old took one shot which was not on target, had a pass accuracy of 82.9%, took 47 touches, made one interception, and put in one cross.

When Thomas Partey is fit and available, Lokonga could form a strong partnership with the Ghanian star in the middle of the park for Arsenal.
