Loic Remy is certainly proving a good purchase for Chelsea.
This summer Liverpool had the unenviable task of replacing the irreplaceable Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan had departed for Spain with a dream move to Barcelona and left Liverpool with a massive hole to fill.
They did so by bringing in Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli. Along with Daniel Sturridge that seemed like a good front-line.
However Lambert has lost a yard, Balotelli has been largely poor while Sturridge has spent most of his time on the injury table.
Between the three of them they have played 1556 minutes of Premier League football, if you throw Fabio Borini into the mix as well. In that time they have scored two goals, one from Sturridge and one from Lambert.
Meanwhile, a player they decided not to sign because of a failed medical levelled that total on Wednesday night.
Loic Remy scored the third goal for Chelsea as they romped to victory over London rivals Tottenham at Stamford Bride.
It was his second of the Premier League season in just 160 minutes of football.
| Position | Team | Mins Played | Goals | Appearances | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mario Balotelli | FW | Liverpool | 685 | 0 | 9 |
| Rickie Lambert | FW | Liverpool | 445 | 1 | 12 |
| Loïc Remy | FW | Chelsea | 160 | 2 | 6 |
| Daniel Sturridge | FW | Liverpool | 270 | 1 | 3 |
| Fabio Borini | FW | Liverpool | 156 | 0 | 5 |
Liverpool agreed a fee with QPR for Remy in the summer, but after he flew to Boston for a medical they pulled the plug on the deal.
Chelsea decided the issue on the medical was not worth giving up on the player and signed him. It looks as though they took the right risk.
