Lancs Live have handed Leeds United winger Ian Poveda a 9/10 for his Blackpool display on Sunday, just his second outing since leaving Leeds for the Championship club – as Blackpool edged past Huddersfield Town to win 1-0.

Poveda, 22, joined Blackpool last week on loan for the 22-23 campaign. He made his debut as a substitute in a defeat to Bristol City. However, Blackpool sold Josh Bowler to Nottingham Forest – before he was sent on loan to Olympiacos.

It saw Blackpool boss Michael Appleton hand Poveda his first start – and he looked excellent. The pocket-sized winger lasted 75 minutes for Blackpool, as Theo Corbeanu scored the only goal of the game towards the end of the first half.

Poveda will be hoping his loan spell at Blackpool can help him resurrect his Leeds career – where he has a contract until 2024. Or, he shows other interested clubs what he is capable of. Lancs Live believe he has made an excellent start.

Handing Poveda a 9/10 for his performance against Huddersfield, Lancs Live said: “Made life after Josh Bowler look much better. Great movement, vision and skill in and out of possession – looks a really astute addition.”

Leeds winger Poveda handed 9/10 for Blackpool display

Poveda is a player with enormous potential. There were initial concerns over his attitude at Elland Road but that has since improved. Unfortunately for Poveda, his progress was halted by a horrific injury while on loan at Blackburn.

The winger will harbour ambitions of playing his football at a higher level than the Championship. But for now, he needs to continue churning out 9/10 performances for Blackpool. He needs goals and assists, too.

Should he have a really successful season for Blackpool and remain injury free, there is no reason why he would not be given another chance at Leeds next summer. Especially, with Dan James leaving for Fulham on loan with a clause.
