Newcastle United-owned goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has told BBC Sport that he wants to stay at Swansea City next season.

Woodman joined Championship club Swansea on a season-long loan deal from Premier League outfit Newcastle in the summer of 2019.

As reported by BBC Sport, the 23-year-old goalkeeper is out of contract at the Magpies next summer.

The English goalkeeper has said that he wants to stay at Swansea next season as well.

Woodman told BBC Sport: “I think the club know and the fans know that I absolutely love it here.

”I would love to carry on next season. When you are enjoying your footy and enjoying where you live, it makes life so much easier. But in football it’s not really up to the player’s choice, it’s about the clubs.”

Permanent Swansea City move?

Woodman has been a regular for Swansea this season, and the goalkeeper has played well for the Welsh outfit.

The former England Under-21 international is clearly enjoying his time at the Liberty Stadium, and it would make sense for him to stay in Wales next season as well.

Perhaps Newcastle and Swansea should try to strike a deal over a permanent contract.

After all, Martin Dubravka is the first-choice goalkeeper at the Magpies, and Woodman would be a squad player at Newcastle next season.

Swansea are an ambitious club and are aiming to finish in the Championship playoffs this season.
