The Rangers goalkeeper, Jak Alnwick, is continuing to show the Ibrox side what they are missing during his loan spell at Scunthorpe United.
Named man of the match en debut against Accrington at the start of the month, Alnwick made the English Football League’s team of the week following the Irons’ 1-0 win against Shrewsbury on Saturday.
The on-loan Rangers man, nonetheless, had a relatively quiet afternoon at Glanford Park – facing and saving only one shot on target as Scunthorpe won for the first time at home in the league this season.
Alnwick, a 2017 signing from Port Vale, found his Rangers chances limited following Allan McGregor’s summer return, and lost the battle with Wes Foderingham to be McGregor’s understudy.
But the former Rangers manager Stuart McCall was quick to offer Alnwick a lifeline after replacing Nick Daws as Scunthorpe boss last month.
The 25-year-old is due to remain in Lincolnshire until the January transfer window.
