The Swiss talent is currently on loan at BSC Young Boys.
Newcastle United’s Kevin Mbabu warms up before the game
Newcastle United’s summer was a busy one. Intent on promotion Rafa Benitez made many new signings to improve the team and at the moment it appears to be paying off, with the Magpies sitting top of the Championship table.
But whilst plenty of players came in, others had to be let go.
Newcastle’s Kevin Mbabu and Chelsea’s Pedro in action
One such man was Kevin Mbabu. But the talented Swiss defender is not a player Newcastle want to give up on completely just yet. Therefore, he was loaned out to his homeland, joining BSC Young Boys in the Swiss capital of Bern.
He certainly appears to be enjoying it. He helped create two goals in a 4-0 win against Grasshoppers at the weekend and was quick to tell everyone about his performance on Twitter after the game:
Mbabu was featuring in just his second game for the club and is clearly starting to settle into his new, and temporary, surroundings.
The 21-year-old’s performances will have to continue on this path if he is to remain an integral member of the Young Boys team.
Toon fans will certainly hope he comes back to the club a more rounded footballer.
