Tottenham winger Georges-Kevin Nkoudou has told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph that he wants to be as successful as Chelsea winger Eden Hazard.

Spurs swooped to land Nkoudou from Marseille in the summer of 2016, finally signing the wide man after a protracted transfer saga – but it’s fair to say that he hasn’t quite lived up to expectations.

After notching nine goals and five assists in his one season as a Marseille player, Nkoudou looked to be a hot prospect for the future, but he has yet to even make a Premier League start for Spurs.

Having spent nearly 18 months on the fringes of Mauricio Pochettino’s side, Nkoudou has now been loaned out, joining Burnley until the end of the season to try and further his career.

The 22-year-old has so far made two substitute appearances for Burnley, totalling 36 minutes, and he will be hoping for much more playing time between now and the end of the campaign.

Nkoudou ultimately wants to develop at Turf Moor and eventually head back to Tottenham ready to make an impact in the first team, and he may even have a target in mind.

Speaking to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Nkoudou has revealed that he wants to one day be as successful as Chelsea star Eden Hazard, noting that he thinks the Belgian is one of the best in the world and he hopes to emulate him.

“I like to watch Eden Hazard,” Nkoudou revealed. “He’s one of the best in the world in that position. I like him very much. I hope I can be as successful,” he added.

Spurs fans may not be too excited about one of their players having such a strong admiration for a Chelsea star, given the rivalry between the two clubs, but if Nkoudou can get anywhere close to being the player Hazard is, then Spurs fans – and Pochettino – would no doubt be delighted, with the decision to send him on loan designed to help him improve.
