The Colombian international has been in good form in Italian football.

One such player was Colombian defensive midfielder Carlos Sanchez. The bullish midfielder was sent out on loan to Fiorentina on a loan deal until the end of the season.

He has certainly had an impact in Florence. He has become a regular in the Fiorentina first-team, even moving back into the centre-back position.

Now he will be hoping to make the move to Serie A permanent. He told Corriere Fiorentino today:

“I would love to stay in Florence? For long, really. When I called (Juan) Cuadrado this summer (we know each other since we were little, for me he’s like a brother) to let me describe Florence, in my heart I had already decided.

“Fiorentina is a known team, the stadium is beautiful and the team plays well. What could I want? My story here then began the great: I scored the winning goal against Chievo, in the mists of purple 90 years. a huge satisfaction. But I’m on loan from Aston Villa and market speaks only my agent.”

It was reported by La Repubblica that Sanchez has cost an initial loan fee of just €300,000 (£260,000).

Fiorentina will have to purchase the player permanently should he feature in 50 per cent of La Viola’s games this season. The price they will pay Villa for his services is set at €3 million (£2.6 million).

Based on his current form and the amount of playing time he is getting in Florence it would be unlikely he will be heading back to Villa Park at the end of the season.

Aston Villa will therefore hope to cash in and spend the money wisely.
