Loan manager’s advice for prospective new Newcastle owners regarding reportedly in-demand player

Shola Ameobi said on The Football Show on Sky Sports Football (10am, May 8, 2020) that all the Newcastle United staff want Matty Longstaff to sign a new contract.

The Newcastle loan manager has raved about Longstaff, and believes that the Magpies need to keep hold of the 20-year-old midfielder beyond this summer.

The England Under-20 international midfielder is out of contract at Magpies at the end of the season, with Arsenal, Everton and West Ham United interested securing the youngster’s services on a free transfer this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

According to Goal.com, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund are on the verge of buying Newcastle from current owner Mike Ashley.

Ameobi said The Football Show on Sky Sports Football (10am, May 8, 2020): “All the staff here want Matty to sign a contract.

“The likes of Matty is a product of Newcastle, it should be one of the top priorities should the new owners come in.

“We have to keep the players that we have. He should be a top priority. We need to lock him down for the future.”
