Ryan Giggs has raved about Liverpool youngster Neco Williams on Sky Sports Football (06/09/20 at 4:10 pm) and claimed that he has ‘loads of quality’ after he helped Wales secure a last-gasp winner against Bulgaria today.
The Anfield academy product didn’t start the match, but he did come off the bench and netted the only goal of the game in stoppage-time.
His glancing header at the far post was very important for Giggs’ side, who picked up a valuable three points in the UEFA Nations League.
After the game, Giggs admitted that he was thinking of starting the teenager, as he shared his thoughts on his stunning performance.
“Neco, he comes on the other night and he was fantastic and it was the same today,” Giggs told Sky Sports Football.
“He has got loads of quality. He has got confidence in his ability and he’s a great lad. He has brought new energy to the group. He showed that in both his cameos in both the [UEFA Nations League] games.
“I was umming and ahhing whether to start him today because of the performance he put on the other day, but to come on and, not only his goal, but his overall play was fantastic. So, delighted for him.”

Things are on the up for Williams, who has also been earning valuable game time under Jurgen Klopp at club level.
Unfortunately for him, he has a certain Trent Alexander-Arnold in his way, so game time will remain reduced for now.
But, on the international stage, Williams is clearly growing as a footballer, which will only help the cause of his nation and the club that has helped nurture him on Merseyside.
