The Swans are short on firepower, while Bony is mystified at his lack of playing time at the Britannia Stadium.

As Swansea face a run of games without lead striker Fernando Llorente, a former Swans scoring sensation is struggling to get game-time – and the pair are still well suited to each other.

Since leaving Swansea for Manchester City for big money in January 2015, 28-year-old striker Wilfried Bony has struggled for form and minutes on the pitch. Now on loan at Stoke City, the Ivorian is still being overlooked for the starting line-up, behind new signing Saido Berahino and even Peter Crouch in the pecking order.

According to BBC Sport, Bony is nonplussed about his lack of games, and doesn’t understand what it is he has to do to play. Meanwhile, Swansea are facing a tough few weeks with Jordan Ayew as their main striking option.

Veteran target man Llorente has flourished in recent times for the Swans, adding a physicality that has not been present since Bony was last at the club.

In fact, the style and structure to Swansea’s play would still be ideal for a player such as Bony to return and break down the opposition in the future. His close range finishing ability and brute strength would be a perfect spearhead to what is currently a fairly weak Swansea attack.

With no apparent prospects in regard to playing for Manchester City next season, Bony may have to look elsewhere in the Premier League for a home in the summer, and Swansea are without doubt the best fit for him.
